The Brief
After a successful handover at Nike Live in Bromley, our team transitioned to the next exciting project: Nike ‘Rise’ at the Bullring in Birmingham, followed by Leeds Trinity Shopping Centre. The ‘Rise’ concept is designed to elevate shopping experiences through innovative digital features and services, pulsating with the energy of the city sports scene. These stores are now open and serve as a dynamic haven for both sports and tech enthusiasts.
The Project
Another LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Gold targeted scheme, we were able to apply learnings and implementation from Nike Live Bromley to the Rise design scheme with excellent effect. Engaged at pre-contract, as the Principal Contractor we worked in close collaboration with architects Woods Bagot (Nike Birmingham) and Hyphen (Nike Leeds) Mace and Nike. RI were responsible for the management of the build programme, all build elements, and the management of client direct merchandising system and joinery suppliers. The scope of works included liaisons with the landlord through preparatory works, strip out, and at Nike Birmingham, the installation of structural elements such as the steelwork which supported the new shopfront and, LED Goalposts and new staircase, as well as the lift. As the Birmingham unit was a suspended unit, all build works were carefully considered and managed to ensure plant and materials did not exceed loading restrictions. No mean feat, given the extent of structural works included within our package of works.
Local labour was a priority to meet with stringent LEED criteria together with intricate calculations to ensure minimal material wastage, and efficient operating systems.
We engaged our affiliated design specialists to work seamlessly with the client architect’s Woods Bagot, and manufacturing specialists to coordinate the design on all structural elements and installation.
