Bardacious
Client: Quiet Street, Bath
Duration: Design & Build - on site for 10 weeks
The Brief
This project involved transforming a historical bank on Bath’s Quiet Street, into a brand-new restaurant called Bardacious. The restaurant sits under the Alejandra Restaurant Group as its new flagship. Heritage requirements had to be met due to the building’s listed status and complex logistics managed, such as tight site access and coordination with local authorities. A unique challenge was the simultaneous development of this new restaurant brand, which required close coordination with the client to ensure the realisation of his vision for the brand and also effected relative adjustments to plans mid-project. The scope was extensive, whilst we provided a turnkey service from conceptual design to final fit out.
The Project
We worked closely with multiple stakeholders including investors, architects, BoonBrown, who managed the heritage and planning requirement, mechanical and electrical (M&E) consultants, and marketing agency, Coldharbour Creative. The process involved significant demolition of partition and block walls, as well as the removal of suspended ceilings and groundworks for new drainage systems.
Due to the building grade status, we had to protect and encapsulate original features while upgrading the fire safety standards. The M&E aspect was the largest part of the project, involving the installation of a new air conditioning and heating system, as well as replacing old lead pipes and upgrading plumbing. The commercial kitchen installation required specialised ventilation, fire suppression systems, and high-grade kitchen equipment, which were sourced and installed through collaboration with various specialists. The bar area also required bespoke design and installation. We completed the fit-out, including custom joinery, wall cladding, seating, and decoration, within a 10-week programme. The result is a fully customized brand-led experience in a contemporary restaurant that adheres to both modern standards and the historical significance of the building.
The main build objectives included demolition and reconfiguration of the internal structure, significant mechanical and electrical upgrades, and a custom-built commercial kitchen.
Bardacious
Welcome to Bardacious in Bath - the ultimate destination for fresh, healthy Mexican-inspired small plates and handcrafted cocktails at the Agaveria.
Coordination between specialists for the fire suppression system, kitchen ventilation, and gas safety was crucial, as these elements had to be installed sequentially within a short timeframe toward the end of the project.
