The Brief
Entrusted with transforming Deichmann’s successful retail space into their flagship store at Westfield, White City, we undertook the project as the principal contractor. This project aimed to elevate Deichmann’s brand image and deliver their unique model of customer service, at scale, whilst expanding into the next door unit. The key objective was to keep the renovation period to a minimum to limit the required store closure, ensuring a commercially viable fit out.
The Project
We managed the project from pre-construction to completion, employing strategic planning to meet the tight timeline. Initially set for 16 weeks, the renovation was condensed to just 8 weeks by operating double shifts around the clock, 7 days a week, and creating a phased approach to works completion allowing room for Deichmann’s merchandising team to work safely in completed zones. The scope of works included combining two units into one, installing new flooring, walls, and ceilings, and creating a distinctive shopfront with custom Corian panels. We also incorporated completely new mechanical, electrical, and lighting systems to improve energy efficiency and environmental sustainability. Critical to the success of this project was a one team approach, ensuring seamless coordination and communication with all of the various stakeholders, including the design team, KMB, Deichmann project and store teams, and Westfield Centre Management. This collaboration, together with daily programme contingency planning, contributed greatly to the project’s timely and successful delivery, setting a new standard for the brand.
