St Albans Cathedral

Client: St Albans

Duration: Design to completion, 16 weeks

The Brief

We were commissioned by St Albans Cathedral to design the visitor entrance and retail experience, which together form the Cathedral’s Welcome Centre. As a Grade I listed building, it was important to maintain a design sympathetic to the history of the space, while also implementing some modern touches to excite and welcome in new visitors.

The Project

We designed a solution which was inspired by the historical features of the original architecture whilst also fitting with the complementary modern extension. We manufactured all the wall bays, fixtures and fittings within the retail area and incorporated the new welcome area displays. The spaces were produced with flexibility in mind, so that St Albans Cathedral can use them in a variety of ways to respond to changing visitor needs as well as accommodating seasonal displays.
